The all-new production of the Tony Award-winning hit musical The Wiz will open on Broadway on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in a limited engagement at the Marquis Theatre.  Preview performances will begin on March 29. Check out an all new first look photo, as well as a video of the cast performing with the orchestra for the first time!

Black Ensemble Theater Founder and CEO Jackie Taylor opens the 2017 Season (The Dance Theater Season) with the world premiere musical My Brother's Keeper-The Story of The Nicholas Brothers, written and directed by Black Ensemble Theater Associate Director Rueben Echoles. My Brother's Keeper (The Story of The Nicholas Brothers) will be performed at the Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center, 4450 N. Clark Street in Chicago, February 11 - March 26, 2017.  The official press opening is Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3:00pm.

He was on top of the world and at the height of his career in 1982 when a devastating car accident left him a quadriplegic. Teddy Pendergrass passed away in 2010 having lived with his challenge for 28 years. His story demonstrates that the greatness of the human spirit will never be defeated, no matter the challenges that we face in life.

August on the Vineyard kicks off with a boom with the 12th Annual Martha's Run &Shoot Filmworks Vineyard African American Film Festival, August 5 - 9th presented by Lincoln Motor Company.

Every performance of Lee Cataluna's Flowers of Hawai'i, sold out last winter. The show toured to Maui in January, where it also played to sold out crowds. Kumu Kahua Theatre will be re-mounting this popular show for two weekends in July and August.

The Toronto Fringe begins performances this Today night, and some familiar faces from film and television will be hitting the boards in the new musical It's Always You written by Dan Redican with music by Scott White (Top Gun! The Musical).
