The Theatre School at DePaul Univ Presents FAUSTUS

The-Theatre-School-at-DePaul-Univ-Presents-FAUSTUS-20010101

The Theatre School at DePaul University's New Directors Series Presents: Krissy Vanderwarker's FAUSTUS by Christopher Marlow Adaptation by Rupert Gould & Ben Power Comes to Life for a New Director.

The Theatre School at DePaul University presents FAUSTUS, by Christopher Marlowe, adapted Rupert Gould and Ben Power, and directed by Krissy Vanderwarker, as the opening production of the 2011-2012 New Directors Series. FAUSTUS opens Friday, November 4, and runs through Sunday, November 13, 2011, at Theater Wit. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on November 2 and November 3 at 7:30 PM.

Wittenberg, Germany, 1509: John Faustus, doctor and scholar, vows to conjure the devil. London, England, 2001: Jake and Dinos Chapman attempt the ultimate art taboo - meddling with a set of Goya etchings. In this brilliant adaptation, new director Krissy Vanderwarker unites three of her passions: art history, religion, and theatre - and explores the cost of the artist's pursuit of immortality.

Admission is FREE but reservations are recommended. Call the Box Office at (312) 922-1999.

New Directors Series productions are directed in partial fulfillment of the Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing at The Theatre School. FAUSTUS serves as Director Krissy Vanderwarker's MFA thesis project, after three years of production practice and training in order to fulfill her degree requirements. "I choose to work in theatre because I believe it creates a space that allows us to exercise our compassion," says Vanderwarker, "Expect to truly experience the live event; it will
be full of tricks, physical daring, and a new relationship to the performance happening before and around you." To learn more about Vanderwarker's past projects, The New Directors Series, or the MFA Directing curriculum, please visit http://theatreschool.depaul.edu.

Theater Wit is located at 1229 W Belmont Ave., in Chicago. The theatre is accessible via public transportation, and street parking is available. For more information please contact the Box Office at (312) 922-1999.
