'Shout!' at the Drury Announces Casting

The producers of Shout! The Mod Musical are thrilled to announce the cast for Chicago's premiere production of SHOUT! at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place (175 E Chestnut St).

Lauren Fijol (Blue Girl) returns to her hometown of Chicago directly from the hit first national tour of Shout!  Megan Long (Red Girl) has performed throughout the city and suburbs, most recently seen in Carter's Way at Steppenwolf and the Marriott Theater's production of Little Women.  Danielle Plisz (Green Girl) recently graced the stages of the Lyric Opera of Chicago in Un Ballo In Maschera and Mefistofele.  Maggie Portman's (Yellow Girl) credits include Urinetown at the Mercury Theater and Assassins and Ragtime at Porchlight Music Theatre.  Amy Steele (Orange Girl) comes to Shout! following credits with Second City's Skybox and Gorilla Tango Theatre, and regionally with Metropolis Performing Arts Centre and Steel Beam Theatre.  And finally, Jennlee Shallow (Ensemble, u/s) joins the cast after previously performing the role of Nala in the Sydney and Melbourne productions of Disney's The Lion King.

All casting was conducted exclusively in Chicago, drawing from an exceptional group of local talent.  Shout! will play a limited engagement at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place April 30 – June 22, 2008.

"Shout! is a fast-paced journey through the infectious and soulful pop anthems and ballads that made household names of stars like Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield and Lulu.  In this Austin Powers-like musical, hits like 'To Sir With Love,' 'Downtown,' 'You Don't Have to Say You Love Me,' 'Son of A Preacher Man,' and 'Goldfinger' frame the journey of five women during the liberating days of the 1960s that made England swing," press notes state.

Each of the five talented young women in the cast is identified by the color of her costume, reflecting a composite personality.  Blue is sophisticated and poised; Red is quirky and enthusiastic; Green is a reckless, fun-loving party girl; Yellow is uninhibited and brash, the only American in the group; Orange is domestic and maternal.

Produced by Victoria Lang, Pier Paolo Piccoli, Mark Schwartz and Robert Dragotta, Shout! is co-created by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, who directed and choreographed respectively the original Off-Broadway production, with mod musings & groovy gab by Peter Charles Morris and Phillip George. SHOUT! is directed and choreographed by Jay Falzone. The design team includes David Gallo (set), Jason Lyons (lights), Tony Meola & Adam Rigby (sound) and Phillip Heckman (costumes). Orchestrations and additional arrangements are by Bradley Vieth.

Shout! was originally produced by PLUS Entertainment's Victoria Lang & Pier Paolo Piccoli, and Mark Schwartz.

Shout! The Mod Musical will play the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place from April 30 – June 22, 2008.  The performance schedule is as follows: Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., 6 p.m., and 9 p.m., Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
