Sally Mayes' "Valentine" begins at 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the College's Madden Theatre at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $30 and $25; call the North Central College Box Office at 630-637-SHOW (7469) or visit northcentralcollege.edu/showtix.

Mayes made her Broadway debut in Cy Coleman's "Welcome to the Club," winning her immediate praise along with a Theatre World Award and Outer Critics Circle nomination as an outstanding newcomer.

On Broadway, she is best known for her performance in the Roundabout Theatre revival of "She Loves Me," for which she won Tony Award, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. She has also starred in several Off-Broadway productions, including "Closer Than Ever" and "Das Barbeque."

She experienced success in the recording world as well, with her solo albums "The Dorothy Fields Songbook," "Our Private World: Sally Mayes Sings Comden & Green," "The Story Hour," "Boys and Girls Like You and Me" and her latest release, "Valentine."

Mayes has been consistently celebrated by fans and critics alike, with The New York Times calling her "a singer of incandescent ebullience, deliciously saucy" and People Magazine describing her sound as "the kind of rich theatrical voice that elevates a show tune."

She has worked in concert halls, performing arts centers and cabaret series throughout the United States and has even traveled to South Africa to perform with Tovah Feldshuh. Mayes also works in traveling residency programs and specialty workshops, including a yearly Cabaret conference at Yale University.
