Photo Flash: Marriott Theatre Opens SHOUT!

The Marriott Theatre's summer audiences will tap, clap and cheer to the sensational sounds of the 60s with a brand new version of the fun-filled musical SHOUT! This highly anticipated production will preview June 15, open June 24 and run through August 14, 2011. The talents of multi-Jeff Award winning Director and Choreographer Rachel Rockwell, Music Director Dr. Ryan Nelson, and the Marriott Theatre's Lead Artistic Director Andy Hite are all brought together to put a unique new twist on this musical celebration. With its irresistible blend of music, dance, and top-notch production values, this swingin' musical will make you want to jump out of your seat and SHOUT!

SHOUT! brings back the beautiful birds and smashing sounds that made the 60s such a swingin' era. The music of SHOUT! chronicles the dawning liberation of women at a time when women all around the world were redefining themselves in the face of changing attitudes about gender and relationships. SHOUT! tells their story through the unforgettable music of the time, featuring the infectious and soulful pop anthems that made household names of Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and Lulu.

Everything from the period is recreated with playful theatricality - from the eye popping fashions of the 60s, to the hip swiveling dance moves and the music that made us groove! Originally created by Phillip George, David Lowenstein, and Peter Charles Morris, SHOUT! features terrific new arrangements of classic tunes such as "To Sir With Love", "Downtown", "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me", "Son of a Preacher Man", and of course "Shout!" Writers like Tony Hatch, Carol King and Bernie Goffin, Burt Bacharach and Hal David are all heard at the top of their game through songs that resonate with a timeless quality.

With the permission of the original producers, the Marriott Theatre artistic team has completely re-imagined SHOUT! From brand new arrangements and orchestrations, to the addition of eight show-stopping dancers, the Marriott Theatre's version is sure to delight. Their resident design team has also pulled out all the stops for this summer extravaganza by designing a space that is sure to sparkle, investing in new state-of-the art lighting equipment, and bringing back the fashions of the 60s in a new and exciting way.

SHOUT! stars singers Carey Anderson (Sophie in MAMMA MIA, Kate/Lucy in AVENUE Q on Broadway and National Tours), Tammy Mader (multiple Jeff Award Winner, GREASE and THE PRODUCERS at the Marriott Theatre as well as numerous credits at Drury Lane Theatre, Theatre at the Center and Porchlight Theatre), Jessie Mueller (Jeff Award and Connecticut Critic's Circle Award winner, GUYS AND DOLLS, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, ALL SHOOK UP and SHENANDOAH at the Marriott Theatre), Brooke Jacob and Raena White. Dancers include Lauren Nicole Blane, Giovanni Bonaventura, Jaclyn Burch, Craig Kaufman, Jarret Ditch, Trisha Kelly, Sam Rogers and Melissa Zaremba.

Lead Artistic Director Andy Hite heads the Artistic Team for SHOUT! Direction and Choreography by Rachel Rockwell, Music Direction by Dr. Ryan Nelson, Set Design by Tom Ryan, Costume Design by Nancy Missimi, Lighting Design by Diane Williams and Sound Design by Bob Gilmartin. Patti Garwood conducts the Marriott Theatre Orchestra.

The performance schedule is Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. and 8:00pm, Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 1:00pm and 5:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $41 to $49, plus tax and handling fees. Seniors and Students receive $5.00 off a full price theatre ticket on Wednesday 1:00pm, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sundays at 1:00pm and 5:00pm. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings a limited number of Dinner and Theatre tickets are available for only $55.00 per person plus handling fees.
