Peter Gallagher, DON'T GIVE UP ON ME is a new musical play by stage and screen star Peter Gallagher. Featuring great American song selections from "Pal Joey," "Guys and Dolls," and songs by Cy Coleman, Bart Howard, Lyle Lovett, Leon Russell, Burt Bacharach, Dan Penn and others, this new musical play is the story of an actor's apprenticeships with the legends he admires: James Cagney, Jack Lemmon, Peter O'Toole, Stubby Kaye and more and the journey he takes with them.

First seen at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles to benefit The Actor's Fund in 2006 and then at Feinstein's at the Regency in New York City, now a fully realized theatrical work, Peter Gallagher, DON'T GIVE UP ON ME will be presented at Drury Lane Water Tower Place for six exclusive performances, Sunday and Monday evenings: November 22 and 23, November 29 and 30, December 13 and 14, prior to a national tour.

Peter Gallagher is one of America's most respected actors. He has starred on stage, television and in film, delivering stellar performances with every role. This season, Gallagher will be seen in the independent film ADAM for Fox Searchlight, the upcoming film BETTY ANN WATERS with Hilary Swank and the new season of Showtime's hit show, CALIFORNICATION. Last year, Gallagher returned to the Broadway stage in Clifford Odets' The Country Girl where he acted opposite Morgan Freeman and Frances McDormand for director Mike Nichols. Previously, he starred in the hit Fox drama, "The OC", as public defender SAndy Cohen. Following his performance of the song: "Don't Give Up On Me" on "The OC," Gallagher was offered a recording deal by Epic Records. His CD, "7 Days in Memphis," with guitar legend, Steve Cropper, was released in 2005.

Born in NYC, Gallagher graduated from Tufts University, and made his Broadway debut in a revival of "Hair," followed by a starring role in the Original Broadway production of "Grease," and "The Corn Is Green" with Cicely Tyson. He wowed audiences with his performance as the charismatic Sky Masterson in Jerry Zak's Tony winning revival of the Broadway musical "Guys and Dolls." Gallagher earned a Tony Award nomination for his highly acclaimed performance opposite Jack Lemmon in "Long Day's Journey Into Night." A Theatre World Award for the Harold Prince production of "A Doll's Life" and a Clarence Derwent Award for The original Broadway cast of Tom Stoppard's "The Real Thing," also directed by Mike Nichols. He returned to Broadway in November 2001 in an acclaimed Royal National Theatre production of "Noises Off".

The segue from stage to film began in 1980 with Gallagher's feature film debut in "The Idolmaker."
Working often with Robert Altman and Steven Soderbergh, Gallagher was featured in Altman's highly acclaimed film, "The Player," followed by "Short Cuts" (receiving a Golden Globe) and "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle," features that were directed and produced respectively by Mr.. Altman. Gallagher first worked with Soderbergh on the 1989 feature, "sex, lies and videotape" earning him international critical acclaim. Six years later, Soderbergh wrote the lead role in "The Underneath" for Gallagher. Other films include; "Dreamchild," "While You Were Sleeping," "To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday," Adam Sandler's "Mr. Deeds" and "Center Stage." Gallagher is well known for his role as Buddy Kane, "The King of Real Estate" in the Oscar-winning film "American Beauty."

Gallagher's other television work includes the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning miniseries "The Murder of Mary Phagan," "An Inconvenient Woman," "The Caine Mutiny Court Martial" also for Robert Altman. For PBS, Gallagher starred in "Guys and Doll's Off The Record" which documented the recording of the cast album, Peter Sellar's silent film "The Cabinet of Dr. Ramirez" and "Path to Paradise," The untold story of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing for HBO.

Gallagher was recently honored with an "Inspire Award" by AARP for being an Alzheimer's Activist and a "Jewish Image Award" for his portrayal of SAndy Cohen. He received the Elsa Rose Fabares Award from The Alzheimer's Association and also serves on the national board. Gallagher received a "Light on The Hill" Award from Tufts University and a Barnum Award. He also actively supports The Actors Fund and Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids.
