Jim Caruso's Cast Party, Manhattan's 'extreme open mic night,' returns to Mayne Stage in Chicago on Wednesday, August 3 at 9:30pm.
For the second time, host Jim Caruso and pianist/musical director Billy Stritch will bring their eclectic mix of music, impromptu performances and cocktail party revelry to the Windy City to celebrate local theatre, jazz, blues and cabaret performers. Their first visit in April prompted over forty singers to sign up for the chance to sing their hearts out for the packed house.
Over the past eight years, Cast Party has been the place for showbiz superstars, stunning jazz talents and cabaret glitterati to hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle. It's become the ultimate spot to mix and mingle with talented show folk and their fans. This past year, Caruso and Stritch have taken the Party to Los Angeles, Austin, Pittsburgh, and Provincetown, and look forward to a Las Vegas stint in late August. Host Caruso guides the entire affair like a bubbly cruise director, musical director Billy Stritch holds court at the ivories and the audience is invited to participate in the festivities! It's the party that would happen if somehow David Letterman and Ed Sullivan threw a hip house party around the piano!!
