“Hungry Hearts, Feed the Arts!” - on this one night, May 23, if patrons mention either The Dance COLEctive or the Big Hearts Fund to their server, Pizzeria Serio at 1708 W. Belmont Ave in Chicago (773-525-0600) will donate 25 percent of the bill to both organizations. The same applies to delivery orders. The money will go toward supporting cutting-edge dance and medical care for pets.
Formed in March 1996, The Dance COLEctive aspires to challenge assumptions about how dance is presented, through the use of cutting-edge choreography, innovative collaborations and inspired creative site-specific works. TDC’s vision is to become one of Chicago’s premier dance ensembles, recognized for its compelling, socially relevant and inspiring choreography. In fulfilling its mission and vision, TDC embraces collaboration as a core element of its creative process; values the athleticism, grace, power and strength of its dancers; and nurtures and promotes the creativity of emerging artists.
The Big Hearts Fund is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for canine and feline cardiac disease. Created in 2010 by Christy Drackett, who owns a young dog with a congenital heart defect, The Big Hearts Fund is fueled by the belief that pets’ lives are valuable and deserving of appropriate medical care regardless of the financial limitations of their owners. To that end, The Big Hearts Fund has just launched its Financial Aid Program, offering assistance to families whose pets need specialized veterinary care for cardiac conditions.
