FREUD�'S LAST SESSION to Hold Talkback, 6/29

FREUD'S LAST SESSION will feature Love, Sex, the Meaning of Life and the Existence of God, a post-show talkback discussion with Mark Galli, Senior Managing Editor of Christianity Today, Stanton L. Jones, Provost of Wheaton College, and W. Jay Wood, professor and chair in the department of philosophy at Wheaton College, following the 8 p.m. performance on Friday, June 29 at the Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport in Chicago. Winner of the 2011 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play, the Midwest Premiere of FREUD'S LAST SESSION is now a smash hit in Chicago, having received rave reviews and a Jeff Recommendation. Starring local theater legend, Mike Nussbaum (Emmy, Drama Desk Award, four-time Jeff Award winner, and recent Sarah Siddons Award recipient) as "Sigmund Freud" and Coburn Goss (Vigils at the Goodman Theatre, Dead Man's Cell Phone at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and Off Broadway When the Messenger is Hot at 59E59) as "C.S. Mark Galli is Senior Managing Editor of Christianity Today, one of the most influential religious journals in America. He is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz and Fuller Theological Seminary. He is the author of a number of books on Christian spirituality, as well as biographies of Francis of Assisi and (forthcoming) theologian Karl Barth. He is married, has three grown children, and enjoys golf, fly fishing, and brewing craft beer.

Stanton L. Jones is Provost of Wheaton College; previously he was Rech Professor of Psychology and Christianity and Chairperson of the Wheaton College Psychology Department. He has been a Research Fellow of the Pew Evangelical Scholars Program, and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago and the University of Cambridge. He has written books and articles on psychology and Christianity, including "A constructive relationship for religion with the science and profession of psychology: Perhaps the boldest model yet" in the March, 1994, issue of the American Psychologist, the flagship journal of the discipline of psychology.

W. Jay Wood (MA, Ph.D. University of Notre Dame) is professor and chair in the department of philosophy at Wheaton College. His most recent publications examine the nature of intellectual virtues and the philosophy of religion. He and his wife, Janice, have four children. He enjoys drinking Mark Galli's home crafted beer!

FREUD'S LAST SESSION centers on legendary psychoanalyst Dr. Sigmund Freud, who invites the rising academic star C. S. Lewis to his home in London. Lewis, expecting to be called on the carpet for satirizing Freud in a recent book, soon realizes Freud has a much more significant agenda. On the day England enters World War II, Freud and Lewis clash on the existence of God, love, sex, and the meaning of life – only two weeks before Freud chooses to take his own.
