Chicago Actor Guy Adkins Dies At 41

Guy Adkins died May 12 after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 41. Adkins was widly praised for his stage work in Chicago over the last decade. Adkins took on plays and musicals in his career, starring as the title role in Hamlet in 2002 and as Leo Bloom in The Producers in 2007.

Adkins receved ten Chicago theatre's Jeff Award nominations, he won two times for support actor awards, for FLOYD COLLINS in 1999 and for MISALLIANCE in 2002.

Adkins, who was born in Michigan and graduated from the University of Wisconsin began his work in Chicago during the early 1990s. His credits include OKLAHOMA!, WINDY CITY, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED..., TAMING OF THE SHREW, THE INVENTION OF LOVE, THE SECRET GARDEN, TWELFTH NIGHT, HELLO AGAIN and AWAY.

Adkins starred in the world premiere of THE RETURN OF MARTIN GUERRE as well as the world premiere of THE VISIT. In 2007 Adkins starred opposite Molly Ringwald in the national tour of SWEET CHARITY.

Adkins is survived by his long time partiner Sean Allan Krill.
