Azusa Productions' Artistic Director, Maggie Speer is pleased to announce Chapter 3 in Azusa's Moveable Feast of Words Series, A Horrifying Evening: Short Stories and Poems of H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. In these concert-style performances, the authors' words are the focus. Chicago actors expertly bring to life the terror and madness in the short stories by each author's ability to provoke horror by virtue of only words and imagination. Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the Halloween season and be deliciously horrified as you savor the evocative language in these stories made truly terrifying by words and imagination alone.

ABOUT AZUSA PRODUCTIONS
Azusa Productions was originally founded as a free-wheeling ensemble of experienced theatre professionals committed to presenting stories that challenge the perceptions of both our artists and our audience– stories about everything from A to Z in the USA and beyond – stories that examine, reflect, and celebrate the diverse universality of humanity's shared experience. We are also committed to creating opportunities for emerging and early career theatre artists by providing a forum that both nurtures our artists and inspires them to actively strive for excellence. Always having presented exciting and compelling theatre productions and often focusing on the works of Quentin Tarantino and Sam Shepard, Azusa's mission has grown and expanded. Of course, we will continue to nurture emerging and early career artists and to present excellent, provocative productions that will not bore you, but we also want to contribute in other ways. For example, statistics have shown that many youthful offenders in juvenile detention centers in Illinois are illiterate or read at a rate far below their age. When released, not being able to read often prevents youthful ex-offenders from getting a good-paying job and so keeps them firmly rooted on a criminal path. Using our talents, we at Azusa can contribute in a small, but hopefully meaningful way by bringing the world's great literature to these often forgotten young people in juvenile detention centers, sharing the magic of reading with them and getting them to read themselves. We believe that if you can get someone interested in reading, you give them a key to the world.
