Adventure Stage Chicago Presents THE GIVER, Opens 3/24

Adventure-Stage-Chicago-Presents-THE-GIVER-20010101

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC) ends their eighth season with Lois Lowry’s THE GIVER, adapted by Eric Coble and directed by ASC Ensemble Member Brian Bell (Gossamer). Author Lois Lowry will join ASC for the opening performance on March 24th and participate in a post-show discussion and book signing for the audience.

ABOUT THE PLAY
Jonas lives in a carefully constructed community of “sameness,” where individuality is discouraged and feelings like pain, fear, and love do not exist. When Jonas turns 12 and begins training with The Giver, he discovers the contradictions of his supposedly perfect world and grows determined to regain power over his own destiny. Based on the beloved Newbery Medal-winning novel by Lois Lowry, this remarkable story is recommended for ages 9 and up.

SPECIAL EVENT – MEET LOIS LOWRY
Sat., March 24, 4-8pm
Award-winning author Lois Lowry will attend the opening performance of ASC’s THE GIVER on Sat., March 24th, and stay afterward for an audience Q&A, book signing, and Cupcake Social with cupcakes courtesy of Kyle’s Cupcakery.

This event is open to all attendees of that day’s THE GIVER performance at the regular ticket price. However, ASC strongly recommends purchasing tickets in advance, as this performance will sell out quickly. (All patrons must have a valid THE GIVER ticket in order to attend the book signing.)
