A STEADY RAIN, DO THE HUSTLE et al. Set for Writers' Theatre '10-'11 Season

Today, artistic director of the Writers' Theatre, Michael Halberstam, and executive director Kathryn M. Lipuma, announced the theatre's 2010-2011 season.

The 19th season at the Writers' Theatre will feature the world premieres of Brett Neveu's DO THE HUSTLE from January 25-March 20, 2011 and Huff's (A STEADY RAIN) THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE from June 7-July 31, 2011.

In DO THE HUSTLE, according to Writers' Theatre, "Sam and Eddie Sisson are more than just father and son, they're a crack team of hustlers always looking for the next mark. Sam, just a teenager who has practically raised himself, now wants to distinguish himself from his father and strike out on his own. Eddie doesn't want to let his son go without one final hustle, which could bring in their biggest take yet, but could ultimately tear them apart." William Brown will direct.

Gary Griffin (THE COLOR PURPLE, THE APPLE TREE) will direct Huff's THE DETECTIVE'S WIFE. The production, which will be a limited engagement available to Writers' Theatre subscribers and members) will feature Barbara Robertson.

Other production of the season will include Michael Halberstam directing SHE LOVES ME by Joe Masteroff, Jerry Bock, and Sheldon Harnick. The cast will feature Guy Adkins, Heidi Kettenring, Sean Krill, Ross Lehman, and Rod Thomas.

George Bernard Shaw's HEARTBREAK HOUSE will run from April 19-June 26, 2011 and will be directed by William Brown.

Writers' Theatre performs in two performance spaces in Glencoe: a 50-seat venue at Books on Vernon, 664 Vernon Ave., and its 108-seat theatre at 325 Tudor Court in the Woman's Library Club.

Writers' Theatre was founded in 1992 to explore productions in which the word on the page and the artists that bring the word to life hold primary importance. Central to this mission are three important core values: valuing text, both classic and contemporary, as the fundamental source of inspiration; creating deliberately intimate performances where audiences are face to face with powerful stories; and honoring the time and commitment of our artists by remaining at the forefront of industry compensation. With a reputation for consistent artistic excellence, innovative educational programming and strong ties to our community, Writers' Theatre has built an award-winning repertoire and today, serves as a vital and highly-regarded company in the Chicago theatre community.
