Despite recent progress, BIPOC artists are still highly underrepresented, leaving the arts field sorely lacking in diversity.
A recent study found that 85.4% of works across 18 museums in the US were created by white artists, with only 1.2% coming from Black artists and just 2.8% from Hispanic/Latino artists. In order to broaden the perspectives reflected in art, it’s critical to uplift artistic BIPOC students.
This scholarship seeks to support first-generation BIPOC high school students who are passionate about pursuing careers in the arts.
Any first-generation, BIPOC high school senior who is a US citizen, has non-profit or community service experience, has at least a 2.4 GPA, and is pursuing visual, studio, or performing arts disciplines may apply for this scholarship.
To apply, tell us why you’re passionate about the arts. Give us a creative example (short film, original song, etc) of why you’re interested in the arts and how you hope to improve the world through your artistic career.
